Product development & Engineering

A team of multi-disciplinary designers and engineers

To let you to focus on core business, Frencken can support your product development and engineering with mechanical, electronic, software and electro-mechanical design.

Your strategic partner for product development

OEMs increasingly work with strategic partners for specific assemblies and modules, allowing their own resources to focus on the innovative technologies that keep their products on the leading-edge. This is an effective and popular business approach, and Frencken is a pioneer in the field, having evolved from just supplying machined and fabricated parts to also executing development, prototyping and series production of complex assemblies.

Dedicated specialists

To do this, Frencken has created a separate Engineering Business Unit that includes nearly 50 specialists in all aspects of product development, from mechanical and electro-mechanical (mechatronic) design to software and industrial automation. We also have extensive applications know-how, for example, in diagnostic and interventional medical equipment and precision positioning in a vacuum environment. We work closely with partners in specialized disciplines, enabling us to take on the most challenging projects.

Meeting deadlines and budgets

You choose what you need from Frencken. For example, we can take on a project starting with an idea, functional specifications, or an earlier generation prototype, and then develop it completely and take it to series production. For each project, a multi-disciplinary team is assembled under one project manager, who is the main contact person for your development team.  Regular progress meetings in combination with agreed project milestones ensure that deadlines and budgets are met.

Design for manufacture

Thanks to our experience in producing components, modules and assemblies in series using in-house facilities, we have built up considerable expertise in ‘design for manufacture’. Our extensive experience with series production enables our engineering teams to optimize designs for manufacturability, repeatability and consistent quality. We strive to ensure that the production series works as effectively as the laboratory-created prototypes, and that the cost will be expertly managed. To guarantee this process our global supply chain management and manufacturing experts are included in the project team.
